The Terrific R

If you're not familiar with James Thurber's The Wonderful O, then it's worth checking out from the library. It's the story of a town that is forced by a pirate to give up the letter O. So basically, Ella Minnow Pea for children, but a lot more fun to read.

Aaaanyway, with a very verbal two-year-old running around the house, I've gained a new appreciation for just how terrific the letter R is. Particularly in words like "shirt", "fork", "purse", and "first".

That's funny. Tad's sister has a two year old son whose 'r's sound like 'w's when he talks. Which is an unfortunate skill to lack when you're named Reggie.
